Katakolon is a small picturesque fishing village on the west coast of the Peloponnese, where many cruise ships anchor to visit Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Until the end of the nineteenth century this harbor was very important for the export of currants. After the currant trade collapsed, the warehouses were converted into souvenir shops. Due to its geographical position, it is also the perfect base to explore the mythical western Peloponnese and the countryside.
